What Is Botox?
Botox is a brand of botulinum toxin used as a cosmetic treatment to temporarily relax specific facial muscles. When injected into carefully selected muscles, Botox reduces the repeated contractions that contribute to dynamic wrinkles, including frown lines between the eyebrows and forehead wrinkles. BOTOX Cosmetic is FDA-approved to temporarily improve moderate to severe glabellar lines, lateral canthal lines, forehead lines, and platysma bands in adults.

How Botox Works / What to Expect During Treatment
Before any neuromodulator treatment, we tailor your treatment plan during a thorough consultation. We discuss your concerns, goals, and medical history, and assess your skin. Neurotoxin injections are simple outpatient procedures performed in our luxurious medical aesthetics practice. We’ll ask you to make various facial expressions and note the ideal injection placement. We offer options to help with discomfort, but most patients find these injections easily tolerable without numbing cream. Treatment usually takes 10 to 15 minutes, after which you’re free to return to your day.
What Botulinum Toxin Products We Offer at Dermestetics
Botox
BOTOX Cosmetic contains botulinum toxin A, a form of botulinum toxin that temporarily reduces muscle activity at the injection site. It is commonly used to treat frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet, and is also FDA-approved for platysma bands in adults.
At Dermestetics, Botox can also be incorporated into customized aesthetic treatments such as a lip flip or other targeted applications when appropriate. Precise placement matters when treating facial muscles because small changes in muscle activity can affect surrounding areas.
Dysport
Dysport is another botulinum toxin treatment that temporarily reduces the appearance of dynamic wrinkles. It is commonly used for glabellar lines, the vertical lines that develop between the eyebrows as the associated muscles contract.
Your injector will evaluate your facial anatomy and facial muscle movement before determining whether Dysport is appropriate for your treatment plan. Because different botulinum toxin products have different formulations and dosing conventions, Dysport units should not be treated as equivalent to Botox units.
Daxxify
Daxxify is a newer botulinum toxin product designed to temporarily reduce muscle activity and improve the appearance of dynamic wrinkles. Like other neurotoxins, it works by affecting nerve signals responsible for muscle contraction.
Daxxify may be an option for patients interested in a longer-lasting neurotoxin treatment. During your consultation, your injector can discuss the expected duration, appropriate treatment areas, and whether Daxxify fits your goals.

Recovery and Results

Results do not appear immediately. As the botulinum toxin begins to affect the targeted facial muscles, movement gradually decreases and treated lines become less noticeable. Results are temporary, and muscle activity will gradually return over time. Your provider can discuss when you should expect to see your final results and when a future treatment may be appropriate.
Although cosmetic botulinum toxin injections are generally well tolerated, side effects can occur. Depending on the product and treatment area, reported adverse effects may include headache, eyelid or brow drooping, eyelid swelling, dry mouth, blurred or double vision, or muscle weakness. Are Botox injections safe?
Botox has been extensively studied and has an established history of use when administered appropriately. However, like any prescription medicine, botulinum toxin injections can cause side effects and are not appropriate for everyone. When will I see results after Botox?
